TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Police in Tyler are investigating after a man was struck and killed while crossing a roadway late Wednesday night.
According to the Tyler Police Department, the crash happened just before midnight in the 1200 block of West Gentry Parkway near North Ross Avenue. Officers said the man, who has not been identified, was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a passing vehicle at the intersection. First responders attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the crash.
Following the crash, authorities shut down the area between North Moore Avenue and North Confederate Avenue while officers investigated. The roadway has since reopened.
Police said the driver involved is not expected to face charges, but the investigation remains ongoing.
