Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford says a late Wednesday afternoon traffic stop resulted in the discovery of drugs, a gun, a large amount of cash, and the arrest of the driver. It happened on Highway 190 near Dam B.
Weatherford said his department along with the Tyler County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety were engaged in a joint-operation on the east and southeast sides of the county.
According to Weatherford, 45-year-old Christopher Taylor, of Houston, was driving a Chevrolet Impala that was stopped for a traffic violation.
Weatherford said they found marijuana, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, PCP, a handgun, and $2,051.00 in cash which he said is consistent with illegal proceeds from the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.
Taylor was arrested and charged with three counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Money Laundering. Bond on Taylor was set at $850,000.00.
