Two Vidor police officers saved two children from a burning home just before flames engulfed their bedroom. It happened shortly before 2:00 Tuesday morning on Pin Oak Street in southwest Vidor. Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll says Officers Michael Stephenson and Ashton Moss were first on scene and the mother of the children told the officers that they were trapped in a front bedroom, and the rest of the house was already fully engulfed. Chief Carroll said the officers had to first pull out a window air conditioner, and then they were able to reach through the window and grab the children, who were ages 7 and 9. Less than a minute later, the bedroom became fully engulfed. The children were rushed by ambulance to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of smoke inhalation.
