WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) - Police say two teens are being charged for their involvement several vehicle burglaries in the Westlake area in the past two weeks.
On Thursday, a search warrant was executed at a residence where two firearms were recovered, with one of them believed to be stolen, according to Westlake Police Chief Chris Wilrye.
Wilrye says two 15-year-old juveniles were arrested and booked into a juvenile detention center.
One of the juveniles was charged with:
- Simple burglary of a vehicle
- Theft of a firearm
- Illegal possession of stolen things
- Possession of marijuana
The other juvenile was charged with:
- Two counts of attempted vehicle burglary
- Possession of a firearm by a juvenile
- Illegal firearm possession
Anyone who has had a firearm stolen out of their vehicle in Westlake is asked to contact police.
Wilrye reminds the public to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to help prevent these types of crimes.
