National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the weekend

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Winter Storm Watch for this region. It will be in effect from noon Saturday until 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

The latest forecast shows frigid temperatures and freezing rain and sleet beginning Saturday night and lasting through Sunday.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WEEKEND FORECAST:

Friday Night - Showers likely, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 35. Northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%

Saturday - Showers. High near 41. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%

Saturday Night - Rain or freezing rain, becoming all freezing rain after midnight. Low around 22. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%

Sunday - A chance of freezing rain, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%

Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17
