A fiery early morning crash in Jefferson County has left two people dead, and the Texas Department of Public Safety says the man who caused it will be arrested and charged. It happened shortly before 2:00 Friday morning on Highway 69 between Beaumont and Nederland. Troopers say Salvador Gamez, 51, of Brownsville, was intoxicated and driving a pickup truck southbound on the northbound lanes when he hit a small passenger car head-on. The car caught on fire and both the driver and passenger were killed. Their names have not yet been released. Meanwhile, Gamez underwent hospital treatment for his injuries and once released, DPS says he will be arrested and charged with two felony counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.
