Louisiana State Police say two people were killed and one was injured in a dump truck crash that occurred early Friday evening in Beauregard Parish. According to Trooper Matt Gaspard, it happened at 5:00 on Highway 171 about 9 miles southeast of DeRidder. Trooper Gaspard said the truck, a 200 model Peterbilt, was southbound when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the highway, went through a ditch, rolled onto its side, and then slid into trees. According to the trooper, Ellory “Butch” Burgess, Jr., 59, of Longville and Cody Goode, 29, of Dry Creek were not wearing seat belts. Both were ejected from the truck and killed. However, it was not specified which man was the driver. Meanwhile, a juvenile in the truck, who also wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected and seriously injured. At last word the juvenile was undergoing hospital treatment.
