Two people were injured after a truck pulling a trailer crashed in Buna on Tuesday afternoon. It happened shortly after 3:00 on Business Highway 96. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said James Pirtle, 44, of Kountze, was driving a 2010 Dodge pickup truck and pulling a lowboy trailer westbound when, for an unknown reason, he went off the highway. The truck then overturned and struck a tree. Sergeant Clark said Pirtle was transported by ambulance to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, and his passenger, Sarah Thornton, 31, also of Kountze, was transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital. Clark said both had non-life-threatening injuries.
