A man and a young child were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for evaluation after a three-vehicle wreck Tuesday morning. A report filed by Jasper Police Officer Zachary Oxener said it happened shortly before 10:00 on Highway 190 West at Premier Drive, which is the entrance to Lowes and WalMart. According to the report, 65-year-old Gentry Ralph Bankhead, of Jasper, was driving a 2012 Dodge pickup truck eastbound on Highway 190 and he tried to turn onto Premier Drive despite oncoming westbound traffic. The report said Bankhead’s truck hit a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe which then crashed into a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Chevrolet Tahoe was driven by 46-year-old Adriana Melendez Vargas, of Jasper, and occupied by 26-year-old Alejandra Vargas and 4-year-old Analia Lopez. Both Alejandra Vargas and Analia Lopez were transported by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Gentry Bankhead, Adriana Vargas, and the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, 75-year-old Carol Ann Waller, of Pineland, were not injured.
