NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - Two people are dead following a collision between two vehicles in Nacogdoches County.
DPS said the crash happened around 9:54 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 59 at the intersection of FM 941.
DPS said the preliminary crash investigation shows that one vehicle, driven by Asher Heidrich, 27, of Nacogdoches, was driving north on FM 941 while another vehicle, driven by Michael Smith, 45, of Nacogdoches, was driving northeast on U.S. 59 when Heidrich failed to yield the right of way at a stop-controlled intersection.
Heidrich pulled into Smith’s path and was hit. Heidrich and his passenger, Christopher Rhoton, 18, of Nacogdoches, died in the crash.
Smith was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
