Trinity County deputy hospitalized with serious injuries after single-vehicle crash

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

A Trinity County Sheriff's deputy was hospitalized with serious injuries early Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle crash that occurred while the officer was on duty.

The crash happened at approximately 3:30 a.m. near State Highway 94 and Scrub Creek Road, according to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace. That's north of Lacy, Texas.

The deputy was transported to a hospital where their condition was initially described as minor, but injuries have since become more serious.

Wallace indicated that driver fatigue is believed to be the cause of the crash. No criminal offense is suspected in the incident.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.

"Please keep the deputy in your prayers," Wallace said in a statement released Tuesday.

The sheriff's office has not released additional details about the deputy's current condition or the specific circumstances surrounding the crash. No further information was immediately available.
