TRINITY COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Trinity County animal control officer has been accused of sexual assault of a child.
According to Sheriff Woody Wallace, Brandon Furman, a Trinity County Animal Control officer, was accused of the crime and on July 1, the sheriff’s office was made aware of the allegations. Furman was immediately removed from duty and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, Wallace said.
Wallace asked Pct 2 Constable Mark Cole to lead the investigation. Cole and sheriff’s office investigators worked on the case, and came up with enough probable cause for a warrant to arrest Furman for aggravated sexual assault of a child, Wallace confirmed.
Furman was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Trinity County Jail.
Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues, the sheriff said.
