Trash truck takes out power pole and knocks out electricity

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

An area of Sabine County was briefly without electricity on Tuesday morning when a trash truck knocked down a power pole in the Shamrock Shores Community. It happened at the corner of Farm to Market Road 276 and Nine Mile Road, about 13 miles northeast of Hemphill. Daily News & More is reporting that the garbage truck rolled over onto its side, but fortunately the driver was not injured. Meanwhile, there’s no word on how the crash occurred. A towing crew with a heavy-duty wrecker was called in to roll the truck upright. Meanwhile, workers with Deep East Texas Electric Co-Op had to replace the pole and were then able to restore power.
