UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Upshur County deputies responded to a drowning on Tuesday. According to the sheriff’s office statement, at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a call for help from the 1200 block of Bear Road. The caller said a small child was found unconscious in the family swimming pool there. Deputies found the child unresponsive and began life-saving measures. The child was taken by ambulance to UT Health Center in Pittsburg. He was pronounced deceased there. Deputies say the child had been found by a parent when they couldn’t find him inside their home. Camp County Justice of the Peace Richard Penn ordered that the child be transferred to Southwestern Institute for Forensic Sciences in Dallas for autopsy. This case will be under further investigation. Child Protective Services is also notified on the occasion of the untimely death of a child, the sheriff’s office statement said.
