A Tennessee man was seriously injured in a late Sunday morning motorcycle crash in Newton County. It happened at about 10:30 on Highway 87, just south of Recreational Road 255, in the Mayflower Community. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said Marlon Garrett, Jr., 33, of Memphis, was riding northbound on Highway 87 on a 2009 Yamaha. Sergeant Clark said Garrett was traveling at an unsafe speed when his bike went off the highway and wrecked. Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth says Garrett was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to a Louisiana hospital.
