Officer with the Texas Department of Public Safety said late Tuesday that  three students had minor injuries after a Jasper ISD school bus was hit by an 18-wheeler. The accident occurred around 5:00 pm on County Road 278, commonly known as Huff Creek Road, near County Road 277 east of Jasper. According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, the school bus, driven by 68-year-old Lavel Tukes, was eastbound and going around a curve, while the 18-wheeler, driven by Quintario Foster, 33, of Merryville, Louisiana, was traveling westbound. Sergeant Clark said that the truck driver failed to stay on it's side of the roadway and struck the back left corner of the school bus. Clark said there were six students on the bus and three were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Sergeant Clark said Foster was issued a citation failing to stay on his side of the roadway.
