Three people were injured in an accident on Saturday in Sabine County. Daily News & More is reporting that it occurred at about 12:00noon on Highway 96, just south of Bronson. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Tashawni Cooper, 19, of Elm Grove, California was driving a 2022 Ford transit van northbound behind a 2011 Peterbilt 18-wheeler, driven by Walter Fair, 72, of Pineland. Troopers say Cooper tried to pass the big-rig in a no-passing zone and collided with a southbound 2016 Ford Focus, driven by John Nelson, 51, of Jennings, Louisiana, and also with the 18-wheeler. Cooper and Fair were both taken to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A passenger in the van, Nahela Torres, 21, of Louisiana, was taken to the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Nelson was not injured.
