NATCHITOCHES, La. -- The third and final Natchitoches Parish Detention Center escapee is back in custody, Sheriff Stuart Wright said Monday afternoon. Seankalyn Chatman, 26, of Natchitoches was captured a short while ago by the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Apprehension Team near Opelousas in St. Landry Parish. During the time of his escape along with two other escapees on Saturday evening, Chatman was being held in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on the charges of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, battery on a police officer, resisting an officer, probation violation, flight from an officer, narcotics violations and traffic charges. He now faces additional charges of simple escape. Chapman, Johnny Williams, 22, and Malakhi Nathaniel Gallant, 21, escaped from the detention center Saturday night. Williams and Gallant were captured early Sunday morning. Two additional individuals have been arrested on charges of accessory after the fact for allegedly aiding the escapees. Chatman is currently being transported to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center by U.S. Marshals, according to Maj. Roger Henson, the detention center's warden. Wright acknowledges his thanks and appreciation to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's deputies, Natchitoches police, Louisiana State Police, La. Department of Corrections, Winn Parish K-9 Tracking Team, NSU Police and DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office with drones and a K-9 and the U.S. Marshal Service for their assistance in the capture of Chatman. The investigation remains active and ongoing by the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau and Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Deputies. Additional details will be released as they become available.
