BOSSIER CITY, La. - Spirit Night at Bossier High School turned into a violent night Monday when one person was shot and another suffered a medical emergency during a disagreement at the football stadium. It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Monroe Street as a scrimmage game was underway. According to the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, Anthony Hughes, 43, got into an argument with some juveniles at the event which led to a fight in the parking lot. Authorities say Marcus Kelly, 32, then got out of his car and shot Hughes once in the torso while Hughes was fighting with the juvenile who was a passenger in Kelly’s vehicle. Both parties then jumped into their vehicles and headed down Bearkat Drive when Hughes rammed Kelly’s vehicle after it was stopped by BSO deputies. School Resource Officers responded quickly to the incident and were able to detain Hughes and Kelly and recover the gun. Bossier City police responded to the scene and assisted BSO with securing the crime scene. Both Hughes and Kelly were sent to Ochsner’s LSU Medical Center. After his release from the hospital, Kelly was arrested and taken to the Bossier Maximum-Security Facility where he was booked on warrants for attempted second degree murder, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a firearm on a school campus. Kelly’s bond is set at $305,000. An arrest warrant for aggravated criminal property damage is pending for Hughes upon his release from the hospital.
