Jasper Police are investigating a burglary and the reported theft of guns from Lakes Area Pawn Shop at 603 South Wheeler Street.
Officers were called to the location early Wednesday morning when workers arrived for a day of work and found that someone had broken into the business overnight.
Police are not saying how many guns were stolen or releasing any other information as they continue to investigate the incident.
EDITORS NOTE: KJAS ORIGINALLY REPORTED THAT THE BURGLAR ALARM WITHIN THE BUSINESS DID NOT SOUND WHICH IS WHAT WE WERE TOLD. HOWEVER, POLICE CHIEF GERALD HALL SAID THURSDAY MORNING THAT FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE ALARM DID SOUND, NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE AND POLICE WENT TO THE LOCATION, BUT WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE A KEY HOLDER TO GET IN. HALL SAID ALL INDICATIONS WERE THAT THE BURGLAR OR CULPRITS MIGHT HAVE BEEN IN THE BUILDING WHEN THE ALARM SOUNDED BUT POLICE WERE NOT ABLE TO ENTER THE BUILDING.
