Duane Crews, the Honorable Mayor of Colmesneil and a longtime public servant in Tyler County, has died after battling cancer.
Crews passed away on Saturday, October 11 at his home in Colmesneil.
A native of Woodville, Crews was a lifelong resident of Colmesneil and a member of the First Baptist Church there.
Crews was a 1969 graduate of Colmesneil High School and formerly worked as a lifeguard at Lake Tejas in his early days.
A jack of all trades, Crews worked with Brown & Root as a welder fabricator, and Lufkin Industries as a welder, before operating Crews Services for over 40 years and served on the Colmesneil City Council for many years
Services were held on Friday under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
