Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard said Sunday morning that the body of Jordan Jamal Allen, an eighteen year old teen from DeRidder who drowned in the Sabine River at Bon Wier on Friday evening had been recovered.
Havard said the body was recovered not far from where Allen was seen near the Highway 190 bridge just before 8:00 am.
Allen was pronounced dead by Newton County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Greer who performed an inquest into the incident.
Havard said Saturday morning that the search began shortly before 9:00 on Friday evening when it was reported that the swimmer had drowned.
Havard thanked everyone who assisted in the search including deputies with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife, 409 Rescue and the many volunteers.
