The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Transportation are reminding drivers about their “End the Streak Campaign”, which is aimed at lessening the number of fatal traffic accidents. Texas has not had one single day without a fatal traffic accident since November 7th, 2000. State officials say in 2024 alone, there were 3,584 fatal crashes with a total of 3,946 people killed. That was an average of 10.8 people killed each day last year.
Law enforcement officers urge drivers to follow these basic rules:
~ Never drive drunk
~ Do not text while driving
~ Wear your seat belt
~ Have children in car safety seats
~ Obey the speed limit
~ Stop at stop signs
~ Stop at red lights
~ Drive defensively
