Texas A&M senior architectural majors toured G-P Pineland Mill

The Georgia-Pacific Pineland Mill hosted a group of Texas A&M University students who toured the facility. Georgia-Pacific spokeswoman Yana Ogletree said the aim was for the senior architectural majors to learn how wood can be reimagined and used in modern residential and commercial designs. A group of eighteen students made the 170 mile trip from College Station to Pineland and, according to Ogletree, part of their tour included learning more about how the wood from our renewable resource of trees in this region can be applied beyond traditional construction projects. The Aggie seniors were able to watch the entire process, from the first step of debarking the logs to the production of the final product, dimensional lumber. Ogletree says following the completion of the students’ five-week summer design class on wood products, they’ll graduate in the spring of 2024.
