Area game wardens were busy over the weekend, and now they’re anticipating being even busier as they gear up for the upcoming long Independence Day weekend. KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that over the weekend, game wardens dealt with a drunk driver in Tyler County, a minor under the influence while boating on Lake Sam Rayburn in San Augustine County, and an intoxicated boater on Lake Livingston. Meanwhile, they’re preparing for more problems as the Independence Day weekend begins on Saturday, with July 4th falling on Tuesday of next week. The KTRE report cited Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden Captain Brandon Mosley explaining the agency’s “Operation Dry Water”. Captain Mosely said that it’s an effort to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drug related incidents on the water, with stepped-up enforcement from Saturday, July 1st through Monday, July 3rd.
