A southwest Louisiana couple are accused of starving a child as a form of punishment because they said the child was “ungovernable”. Amie J. Laughlin, 39, and Ramdy P. Hebert, 41, both of Vinton, are in the Calcasieu Parish Jail where each has been charged with Cruelty to a Juvenile, and their bonds have been set at $175,000.00. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department says their investigation began back in June, and in the course of their enquiry they discovered that the female child was neglected and physically abused by the couple and even other family members. According to investigators, when the child was fed, it was low quality food compared to what the rest of the family would eat. Upon interviewing the couple, investigators say Hebert confessed that the child was, indeed, being abused.
