A man is hospitalized after he fell into a ravine while fleeing on foot from Jasper Police on Monday night near the intersection of Craig and Dale Streets.
According to a statement from the department, it began when officers in the department’s Narcotics Division stopped a vehicle driven by Tyrone Grant and he jumped out and fled on foot.
After he was captured, Grant was taken by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital, and later transferred to another hospital.
The statement said that a bag belonging to Grant was found and in it was the drugs methamphetamine and ecstasy.
Criminal charges are pending against Grant.
