VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A suspect has been airlifted to an East Texas hospital after sustaining injuries in a wreck. According to Delta County Sheriff Marshall Lynch, a pursuit began in Van Zandt County on Thursday. The suspect fled into Rains County, where deputies located the vehicle and the pursuit continued. The suspect continued fleeing into Delta County, Lynch said, where deputies with that sheriff’s office joined the pursuit of the fleeing suspect. The vehicle continued traveling at high speeds, heading west on Hwy 154, Lynch said. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed on FM 154 at FM 1529. Delta County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and other local first responders worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital by helicopter with unknown injuries. The reason for the initiation of the pursuit has not been shared.
