HAUGHTON, La. - The search for a suspect involved in a crash near a Bossier Parish school has come to an end with the arrest of a Shreveport man on multiple charges. Kaleb Janeczko, 27, is in the Bossier Maximum-Security Facility on charges of aggravated second-degree battery, theft of a motor vehicle, hit and run and fugitive from Caddo Parish. His bond has not yet been set. The Bossier Sheriff's Office said deputies began their pursuit of Janeczko Tuesday afternoon after he stole a truck in the 9000 block of Highway 71 in Elm Grove and caused a head-on collision in Haughton. Janeczko got the truck in Elm Grove when the owner left it running while running inside the house, deputies said. A Haughton police officer spotted the truck about 15 minutes later and tried to stop Janeczko but he sped away then crashed into another vehicle in the 400 block of South Elm Street. Janeczko ran as deputies arrived to provide first aid to the victim in the other vehicle. The victim had to be extricated then was flown to Ochsner LSU Health hospital with serious injuries. The sheriff's office, Haughton police and state troopers began searching the area with the assistance of K-9s and drones. But after several hours the search was called off. Then just after 10 p.m., a Haughton police officer found Janeczko and took him into custody without incident.
