Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

GRAND SALINE, Texas (KLTV) - Grand Saline police are looking for a suspect who escaped after an early morning chase.

According to the department, they were alerted to a motorcyclist entering their area on Highway 80 around 1 a.m. Mineola PD told them the driver was traveling around 122 mph.

About 10 minutes later, the motorcycle was seen entering the city at about 120 mph. GSPD says the driver reached speeds over 140 mph as they pursued him. The pursuit ended after officers lost sight of the motorcycle, but a report soon came in of a crashed cycle on Main Street near Cate Street.

The motorcycle and the driver’s helmet have been recovered, and GSPD says they are still searching for the suspect. They say it’s unknown whether he is armed or dangerous.

At this time, they are looking for a slender man, either white or Hispanic, about 5′9″-6′ wearing white tennis shoes, shorts and a dark t-shirt.

Grand Saline ISD was warned of the man “out of an abundance of caution,” the PD said, due to his last known sighting. The district said around 7:30 a.m. that they were on “heightened alert.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to call the Grand Saline Police Department at 903-962-3145.
