Sunday morning fire destroys home on east side of Jasper

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

An early Sunday morning fire destroyed a home on the southeast side of Jasper. Firemen from both the Jasper and East End Fire Departments were dispatched to the location shortly after 7:00, when a neighbor reported that the home located on Suncrest Circle near the intersection of Bevil Loop was on fire. Police, who were the first to arrive at the scene found the rear of the single-story structure engulfed in flames with the fire quickly spreading to the front of the home. The volunteers of the East End Fire Department at Holly Springs were first to on the scene and for the most part had the fire knocked down before the firemen from Jasper arrived. What caused the fire or who owned the home is not known. However, a neighbor said she did not believe anyone had lived there in some time. No injuries resulted from the incident and firemen were able to keep the fire from spreading to any nearby homes.
