SHREVEPORT, La. - A pedestrian has died after being hit by a Shreveport police officer early Thursday morning. The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. in the 600 block of East 70th Street. Shreveport police said the pedestrian, who was dressed in dark clothing, was crossing the intersection with Line Avenue when he was hit by a Shreveport police officer who traveling eastbound on East 70th Street. The pedestrian, identified by the Caddo Parish coroner as Charles Page, 60, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after arriving. The preliminary investigation indicates the Page was in the roadway and there was poor visibility in the area because of dust from ongoing road construction and low-lighting conditions on the roadway. As per protocol, the officer was taken to Willis Knighton for routine testing.
