Smoke investigation reveals burn ban violation, citation issued

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

The Tri-Community Fire Department responded early Wednesday afternoon to investigate smoke in the area of Farm to Market Road 1013 near County Road 517. The first firefighter on scene reported that it was actually a burn ban violation with someone burning debris in their yard and also burning the insulation covering off of copper wire. However, the firefighter said the individual quickly put the fire out when he saw him. The case was turned over to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department and the deputy issued the person a citation. Burn bans remain in effect for Jasper, Newton, Sabine, and Tyler Counties in Texas.
