Shreveport man arrested in email threat to Bienville school principal

ARCADIA, La. -- A Shreveport man has been arrested in connection with an email threat to a Bienville Parish school principal.  Derrick Lee Willis, 51, was picked up by Shreveport police Tuesday morning on a Bienville Parish sheriff's warrant charging him with terrorizing. Willis will be transfered to the Bienville Parish Jail for booking. Bienville Parish Sheriff John Ballance said investigators don't believe the threat Willis made was credible. However, it is unlawful to make threats and that's what led to the terrorizing charge, which is a felony offense, he said.  "All such illegal communications to school officials or students are top priority of the sheriff's office and will be handled accordingly," Ballance said.  Bienville Parish schools Superintendent William Wysinger sent messages over the weekend to parents of Ringgold school students. One warned no students or staff were allowed on the campus over the weekend and the second confirmed an email was sent to the principal, saying someone was using a school phone as a prank and if it didn't stop "the damages would be a dead kid or teacher."  State Police and the FBI were included in the sheriff's office's investigation. They quickly identified the origin of the threat. But as a precaution, there was a heavy police presence on the school campus Monday.
