Shooting victim collapses in store, three young children found in back seat of car

Beaumont police found three young children in the back seat of a shooting victim's car after he walked inside a convenience store and collapsed, but not before he was able to tell witnesses he'd been shot at a nearby apartment complex. 29-year-old Oran Trahan later died at a hospital. Officers responded to a victim of a shooting call at 1:15 a.m. Sunday at The Place, 1610 Interstate 10 East. Officers administered first aid to Trahan until EMS arrived.  Witnesses at the store said Trahan mentioned being shot at The Regent, 1715 Maime, before collapsing. He was taken by ambulance to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital where he died. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. has ordered an autopsy.  Police found three young children in the back seat of Trahan's car. The mother of the children arrived at the scene and took custody of them. Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and are in the early stages of the investigation.
