The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department says a person was shot on Tuesday morning and as of late Tuesday afternoon and that a man wanted in connection with the incident has now been arrested and is being held. It happened on Wilson Loop, about 6 miles southwest of Leesville. The department says 26-year-old Kalen Hamm, of Leesville, fled when they arrived and shortly after the incident occurred Sheriff Sam Craft and his deputies released information to all media on both sides of the river about who they were looking for and a few hours later they announced that Hamm was in custody. Late Tuesday, Detective Rhonda Jordan said the victim has undergone hospital treatment and is expected to recover. However, the name of the victim or any other details about the incident have not yet been released.
