Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard and his deputies are investigating the death of child in the Evadale Area.
Havard said the investigation began shortly before noon on Saturday, when the stepfather of the five month old child called emergency dispatchers and reported that the infant was unresponsive. He said emergency crews were dispatched to home at County Road 877, better known as Coffin Road, just off of Highway 1131, south of Evadale and attempted to revive the child
A short time later, the baby boy was pronounced dead by Jasper County Precinct 6 Justice of the Peace Steve Conner who has officially called for a autopsy in the case.
Havard said there was no evidence of any foul play. However, do the age and circumstances, he and others were conducting a full investigation into the incident.
No name or other information have been released pending further investigation.
