Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Saturday that he and others were investigating the death of a child. Havard said the investigation began shortly after 5:00 on Saturday morning when emergency dispatchers received a call from someone at a home on County Road 269, just off Bevil Loop Road on the east side of Jasper who stated that the teen needed emergency medical care.
Havard said an EMS crew was immediately dispatched to the scene and transported the child to Jasper Memorial Hospital. However, Havard said the child was later pronounced dead.
No name or additional information has been released as the investigation into incident continues.
