The volunteers of both the Beech Grove Fire Department and the Jasper County Emergency Corps were dispatched to Dam B, west of Jasper, shortly before 4:00 on Sunday afternoon when a motorist crossing the Neches River Bridge on Highway 190 reported that a boat was floating in the water upside down just north of the bridge. The volunteers converged on the boat, brought it to shore and after checking the registration, learned that the owner of the craft, Thomas Biddle was high and dry at his home in Silsbee. It is now believed that the flat bottomed boat apparently broke loose from a camp house or campsite on the Neches River north of Recreational Road 255 and over a period of time floated to Dam B. Beech Grove Fire Chief Jamie Gunter and others were glad that the incident resulted in no injuries that everyone was safe and sound.
