SABINE PARISH, La. (KSLA) - A man from Sabine Parish has been sentenced for murdering a romantic rival of his back in 2021. In late April, Joshua Cornell Palmer, 36, was found guilty of shooting and killing Dominique Roland, 32, back on May 31, 2021. The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office says Palmer got the gun used in the murder from his ex-girlfriend prior to Roland visiting the woman. When Roland left the apartment, Palmer walked up to him, then walked down the street with him, and shot him three times (once in the face and twice in the chest). District Judge Ramona Emanuel sentenced Palmer to a mandatory life sentence, without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. The judge also added a consecutive 19-year sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
