The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas has announced that a Sabine County woman has been sentenced to federal prison and ordered to pay restitution after she stole money from a credit union.
Federal prosecutors say Haley Maxine Snodgrass, 29, of the Milam Community, had worked for Doches Credit Union since 2016 and had worked her way up from a teller to a branch manager.
According to prosecutors, a 2023 financial audit looked at loans made by the financial institution and discovered that Snodgrass was responsible for fraudulent loans in which she stole just over $281,000.00.
In a plea agreement between the prosecution and defense, Snodgrass pleaded guilty to Embezzlement.
U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone sentenced Snodgrass to 2 years and 9 months in federal prison and ordered her to pay more than $330,000.00 in restitution.
