Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports Billy Aaron Rains (age-34) of Many was arrested yesterday afternoon, April 22, 2025.
Shortly after 6:00AM, Sabine Parish Parish Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence on Fisher Firetower Road in reference to a woman pleading for help. Rains allegedly beat and strangled a 35-year-old woman, and he threatened to kill her. Rains forced the woman into her vehicle and drove to an isolated area on a high line. The woman was able to get away from Rains and call for help. Deputies were unable to locate Rains and believed he ran into the woods.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Sabine Medical Center with severe injuries. Sabine Parish Sheriff Detectives were able to talk to the victim at S.M.C. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Rains from the 11th Judicial District Court.
Sheriff Deputies and Detectives, with assistance from Desoto Parish Sheriff Deputies searched for Rains most of the day yesterday. Around 3:30PM, Deputies located Rains at a residence off Geoghagan Road where he was taken into custody. Digital technology provided crucial information that led to his arrest.
Rains was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center for:
- Attempted First Degree Murder,
- Second Degree Kidnapping,
- False Imprisonment.
No bond has been set at this time.
