Qualifying starts Wednesday and runs through Friday for candidates vying for local, state and federal positions.
The election for the party primary and municipal primary elections will be on May 16.
All closed party primary candidates for the following state and federal offices will qualify in Baton Rouge:
- U.S. Senate
- U.S. Representative, Districts 1 – 6
- Associate Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court, Districts 1, 3 and 4
- Public Service Commission, Districts 1 and 5
- Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, District 1
Local and municipal candidates will qualify with their respective clerk of court in the parish in which they are registered to vote. Local races in the following parishes include:
BIENVILLE PARISH
- Village of Bryceland: mayor and three aldermen
BOSSIER PARISH
- School Board District 7
CADDO PARISH
- School Board District 8
- Justice of the Peace Ward 2, Oil City District
DESOTO PARISH
- Mansfield – mayor, aldermen District A, District B, District C, District D, District E
- Stonewall – Mayor, five council members
- Longstreet – mayor, 3 council members
NATCHITOCHES PARISH
- Natchez – mayor, chief of police, three aldermen
WEBSTER PARISH
- Justice of the Peace District 1
