Postal worker in very critical condition after attacked by two dogs

A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier is reportedly in very critical condition in a Houston hospital after she was attacked by two dogs late Tuesday morning just northwest of Jasper. It happened at about 11:00 in the 300 block of County Road 110-A in the Curtis Community. KJAS News has learned that the victim, Tamara Hartford, sustained very severe injuries to her neck, an arm, her side, and a leg. She had gotten out of her vehicle to place a package on the porch of the house when the two dogs attacked her. Jasper County Deputy Daniel Coons is being credited with saving Hartford’s life. The sheriff’s department says he was at a nearby house when he heard the woman screaming and he then saw the attack happening. Coons shot and killed both dogs, one of which tried to attack him. Hartford was rushed by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital and then flown by medical helicopter to a Houston hospital.
