Postal Service employee who was attacked by dogs is still in critical condition

Jasper County Deputy Karli Cherry said Thursday morning that a Postal Service employee is still in very critical condition after she was attacked by two dogs in the Curtis Community on Tuesday. It happened on County Road 110-A when Tamara Hartford got out of her vehicle to place a package on the porch of a home and was attacked by the dogs. She's in a Houston hospital where she has undergone three surgeries for severe injuries to her neck, arm, side, and leg. Deputy Daniel Coons is being credited with saving Hartford's life. He was at a nearby house when he heard the woman screaming and he found the dogs attacking her and he shot both of them. As for criminal charges against the owners of the dogs, Duncan said investigators have interviewed them and they're still investigating to determine what - if any - charges will be filed.
