The Polk County Sheriff’s Department says they were able to identify and have now arrested a burglary suspect in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on December 8th.

PolkCountyToday.com is reporting that Benjamin Lee Brown, 31, of Conroe, was arrested after deputies identified him as the person who fled from the scene on U.S. Highway 190, about 4 miles northwest of Livingston.

Deputies said the other burglary suspect, 37-year-old Joshua Read, of Houston, was shot to death by the property owner, whose name has not been released.

Brown has now been charged with Burglary of a Building in Polk County with more charges possible, and he also reportedly had arrest warrants out of Louisiana.

Meanwhile, no criminal charges have been filed against the property owner.
