Violence and crime continues out of control in the Golden Triangle. Early Friday morning Beaumont Police said a high-speed pursuit followed an armed robbery of a convenience store and ended with the arrest of two suspects. According to police, it began at about 2 a.m. when the Speedy Stop in the 8000 block of College Street was robbed at gunpoint. Cops say 20-year-old Patrick Bridgewater jumped the counter and pointed the gun at the clerk, while a juvenile suspect jumped the counter and grabbed merchandise, cigarettes, and cash. Beaumont Police say they fell in behind the suspects in a car speeding on College and attempted to pull them over. However, instead of stopping police say the suspects fled in the Kia sedan, which had been reported stolen. Police say the chase ended in Nederland where they arrested the pair and recovered the gun. Bridgewater went to the Jefferson County Jail, while the juvenile went to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Justice Facility. According to police, the pair will be charged with Aggravated Robbery, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.
