LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Lake Charles Police have arrested a man and are accusing him of failing to report the commission of a crime as part of their investigation of the fatal Lake Charles Event Center shooting in July.
During their investigation into the July 20 shooting that killed Trakeyvan Handy, detectives spoke with multiple people who they say were there during the shooting. Police consider several of these individuals to be witnesses, but say they are refusing to tell law enforcement what they saw.
As a result, on Sept. 19, around 9 a.m., the United States Marshall’s Service and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Kevin Jerron Goffney, 25, of Lake Charles on a warrant obtained by the Lake Charles Police Department for failure to report the commission of a crime.
Goffney was arrested in Harvey, La., and his bond has been set at $150,000. Goffney is expected to be transferred to law enforcement in Lake Charles at a later date.
The investigation into the shooting remains an active investigation, and the Lake Charles Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them or anonymously leave a tip on the Lake Charles PD app.
