Police: Lufkin man arrested for shooting juvenile claims self-defense

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was facing several charges Wednesday after allegedly shooting a juvenile in the leg, leaving the victim hospitalized.

Police arrested Julious Griffin, 26, for the crime that took place Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Percy Simond. Officers said Griffin admitted to shooting the victim but claimed it was an act of self-defense. The victim was taken to Woodland Heights Medical Center the night of the shooting and was later airlifted to a hospital out of town.

Griffin was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
