Investigation Underway On Man Found In Vehicle

The Jasper Police Department responded to the rest stop on Highway 96 South just after 6:00 AM on Wednesday morning. A report of an unresponsive male in the vehicle prompted the response from the department.
Officers arrived and found a 76-year old male from the Livingston area in the back seat. The man who was deceased apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers secured the scene and called for the Criminal Investigation Division to come to the scene.
Once CID arrived, they assumed the investigation. The body of the man was removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was towed to the Jasper Police Department for additional investigation and processing. According to Jasper Police Chief, Garrett Foster the investigation is still ongoing.
